Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) Mission 11

*Under construction*

Coquitlam School District 43 is participating in the SSEP Mission 11 to conduct a physical, chemical, or biological experiment in microgravity conditions. Only one proposal will be selected from the district (the program is largely aimed at grades 4 to 12).

Inquiry Hub will attempt to design a suitable experiment (as well as a mission patch).

September 23, 2016 (12:30 pm to 3:00 pm) – Networking event for students to meet and be inspired by scientists from Simon Fraser University (sponsor). This event will take place at Heritage Woods Secondary School on a district-wide professional development day. Hence, no classes will be missed. Students who will attend must register here with their username and password. Participants should know the following details:

  • Students should be ready to learn and fully participate in the Heritage Woods Gym by 12:30 (arrive a little earlier).
  • Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event.

More events and links to come.

Writing the Proposal

As we approach the end of the proposal-writing process, these documents will help with questions of formatting and content:

iss2-flightexperimentproposalguide This document will help with actual formatting, the titles of sections, and the page count (up to 5 pages).

iss2-proposalguide-backgroundforstudents This document will help clarify the details in your proposal and how it will be evaluated.

samplespecificity This document demonstrates the detail needed in describing your samples. For example, every liquid needs to have a listed pH value.
