All day was spent with mainly grade 12 students who were busy modding (e.g. painting and improving) the performance of dart air blasters, specifically Buzzbee Ultra-tek Sentinels.
Some students have experience with this activity while others do not. The activity was a reminder that inquiry happens everyday, inquiry should be interesting and enjoyable, and there is a need to keep a record of progress and what is learned.
Inspiration and how-to ideas were picked up from online forums and specifically Nerf modders. However the students shared their own ideas including painting techniques.
We were reminded about the importance of keeping track of parts and tools, sharing ideas, and maintaining a digital portfolio on process. Theses props will be used in upcoming LARP activities designed by students. Stay tuned.
